One of 100 great things to do in Melbourne for under $10
the White Hat guide

There are plenty of reasonably cheap Indian take-away places around Melbourne, but most of the food they serve lacks the complexity of flavour of much good Indian food.

If you want to eat good Indian food at a cheap price, we would recommend that you take the trip to the outer suburb of Dandenong. There, clustered near the station and nearby on the other side of the highway, you will find a number of Indian stores, restaurants and take-aways - most offering excellent value.

See for instance some suggestions for good cheap Indian food from our newsletter No.145 of October 2005.

If you want to cook your own, check out our information on Indian Food Stores in Melbourne
