Blackbird Market

An indoor market featuring vintage fashion, up and coming Australian designers in fashion and jewellery, a place for artists to display and sell their wares and an opportunity for a browse, shop and mingle in a relaxed, exciting atmosphere. The bar and kitchen is always open with a delicious menu waiting for you to try! Music will always be spinning whether in the form of live band or DJ. . Stalls are AUD $60.00 for a Large stall or AUD $40.00 for a Small stall (this size is suitable for jewellery makers only, as it is only enough space for one table). Bundoora Park Farmers Market

Regional fresh produce at an outdoor farmers' market. A small entry fee applies. White Hat recommends that if you are visiting this market with a young family that you consider making a day of it (or at least a half day) by visiting the nearby urban farm. For those interested in historic houses, White Hat can thoroughly recommend a visit to the neary Bundoora Homestead. If you do either of these you may need to remember to take a cooler to keep your fruir & vegies fresh. The market can be accessed by public transport by using the tram in Plenty Road.

in.cube8r gallery is a shop/gallery which runs like a long term market. It is open to anyone who makes things by hand and supports all things craft, art and hand-made in Melbourne. The gallery is divided up into glass cubicles, shelves, racks and partitions which artists can lease for a small weekly cost over a three month period. There is no commission on items sold. When Whitehat visited in June2008 we discovered a treasure trove of new upcoming artisans as well as designers like Julie Ughetti, with an international reputation. The work ranges from the quirky to sophisticated and given the diversity of art work on display you appear to be guaranteed to find eclectic original pieces.

White Hat recommends a visit to this market if you are interested to see what can be achieved when a suburban bowling green is converted into a community vegetable garden.
