Shakespeare Under The Stars
|
|
For over 10 years White Hat has thoroughly recommended Shakespeare Under The
Stars in the Royal Botanic Gardens and this year is no exception This year the
Australian Shakespeare Company are presenting Glenn Elston’s new adaptation A
Midsummer Night’s Dream - Behind The Scenes. following Shakespeare's
Mechanicals as they 'workshop' which of Shakespeare's plays they should perform
for the Duke at his wedding celebration. As a result this production contains
well-known Shakespearian scenes from Macbeth, Hamlet, Antony
and Cleopatra, King Lear, Othello and Romeo and Juliet,
each given an additional comic treatment. The production aims to be entertaining
for everyone.

Lady Chatterley's Lover under the stars
|
|
White Hat feels that the Australian Shakespeare Company have made inspired
choices of venues in choosing the grounds of the stately homes Rippon Lea and
Barwon Park. This promises to be a romantic and sensuous night set in the these
ideal surroundings. DH Lawrence’s erotically charged and
psychologically powerful depiction of adult relationships comes to life in the
foreground of the grand mansion. Join us as we follow Lady Chatterley as she
realises that her emotionally and physically stifled marriage is no match for
true equality and fulfilment with her lover Mellors. She breaks the biggest rule
of all and falls in love with a man below her class – her husband’s gamekeeper.
Lawrence’s vivid depiction of their sexual exploration of each other has made
this story a timeless classic. Adapted and directed by Glenn Elston. Full details and booking information at
Lady Chatterley's Lover. (If you want to catch up with White Hat, meet us in

TOURISM NEWS
Qantas In Flight Magazine chooses
White Hat
Cemetery Tour as its featured Australian tour for May

There are many fine historical tours
throughout Australia including cemetery tours. From these, the
prestigious Qantas In Flight Magazine has chosen the White Hat Tour
of Melbourne Cemetery as its featured Australian tour for the May
2007 edition. This tour was also featured by ABC radio on 24 May and
will feature in a documentary series on Burke and Wills to be shown
on European television in 2008. The tour has been operating for many years and has won
praise from a wide range of sources. This is not a dry and stuffy
tour but in keeping with all White Hat offerings it is Informed,
Intelligent, Independent (and occasionally) Irreverent. You can find
details of the tour at White
Hat Tour of Melbourne Cemetery and view the article at
Qantas In Flight Magazine. |
