'Garryowen'
Writer
aka Edmund Finn
Edmund Finn, a young Irishman, arrived in the settlement of Melbourne in 1841. He began writing under the pseudonym of Garryowen, and has left us many colourful descriptions of life in early Melbourne.
See for instance his descriptions of:
- Johnny Fawkner
- Burial Hill
- Eerie cavortings at the Old Melbourne Cemetery
- The Reverend Ham
- The naming of Melbourne's streets
None of Garryowen's works are currently in print, but rare copies are sometimes available at the link below.
