Labassa - historic house

Labassa is most noted for its largely intact opulent interior decoration including heavily embossed 19th century wallpapers, rare illusionist ceiling, fine stencille work throughout the mansion, grand staircase with tripartite stained-glass windows, fine mahogany paneling interior and external architectural features have national significance.

Labassa is open on the third Sunday of the month from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Internal tours of the mansion run at 11am and 2pm, with an external tour at 12.30pm. Enjoy morning/afternoon tea or a light lunch served in the Servants’ Hall or Courtyard (weather permitting)

Ayers House Museum

Ayers House is the last of the grand mansions of Adelaide’s North Terrace boulevard, and one of the few examples of a historic home of one of Adelaide's prominent families. More info >>

Cook's Cottage

The original tiny cottage beloniging to Captain Cook's parents which was brought to Australia and reassembled in the Fitzroy Gardens - a short walk from central Melbourne. More information at Cook's Cottage.

This historic mansion is managed by the National Trust and open on the third Sunday of the month (except December). Informative house tours occur at 11am and 2.45pm and weather permitting, exterior tours at 1 pm. Refreshments in the Servants Hall throughout the day. A special exhibition occurs from 3.30pm featuring women's clothing from the 1880s. Adults $8, Concession $5.50, Families $20. More information at Labassa.

One of Australia's finest Victorian era buildings. It is open to teh public on Wednesdays and Sundays and features fine displays related to Melbourne history. More info >>
