souls prepared to look beyond the bounds of either the mainstream -commercial or
mainstream-alternative marketing machines. (However, be warned that we can
occasionally be a little Irreverent.) Orchestra Victoria returns to the Melbourne Town Hall to present a thrilling
end of year concert led by internationally acclaimed conductor Antony Walker.
This spectacular programme includes three important and popular orchestral
works. Elgar's Enigma
Variations and Berlioz's
stunning Le Corsaire will be complemented by Guilmant's Organ
Symphony No. 1 in D Minor, performed by visiting Czech organist Pavel Kohout.
Pavel Kohout is one of his country's foremost young concert organists. A
graduate of the Prague Conservatory and the Amsterdam Conservatorium, he has won
numerous prizes, including first prizes at the Tokyo (2000), Ljubljana (1998)
and Vilnius (1999). He performs internationally and broadcasts frequently for
Slovak Radio, the European Broadcasting Union and Czech National Radio. Proudly
