Moomba FestivalMoomba is on again. This year there is an emphasis on the Yarra and on kids. Details at Moomba Festival. Grand PrixThis weekend is the Grand Prix, so time to gather up either your Ferrari caps or your yellow ribbons and head down to Albert Park. If you don't have an ongoing love affair with motor racing or an enduring vendetta against Jeff, you can always head to the country (see below). Last of Zoo TwilightsZoo Twilights and zoo-be-cues end this weekend until next summer. Details at Melbourne Zoo. Country FestivalsTons of country festivals this weekend. The Port Fairy Folk Festival has long been booked out, but you could try the Buskers Festival at Hanging Rock or jazz at Inverloch or Yallourn. For food & wine there are festivals at Avoca, Harcourt (if you like apples) and Thorpdale (if you like spuds). There are arts festivals at Shepparton, Cobden & Mildura and community festivals at Edenhope, Swan Hill, Myrtleford, Violet Town, Yarra Glen and San Remo. There are heritage festivals at Mornington and Wedderburn. And for those of you getting the hang of flower festivals there is a Dahlia Festival at Portland - you can start practising now.
