Murder & Mysteries Tour
|
Please Note: After 10 years of
successful operation, The Murder & Mysteries tour will ceased
to operate at the end of 2006. Increased demand for our corporate tours
and other professional services has meant that White Hat Tours
is in the process of phasing out its low-cost public tours. We
thank all our enthusiastic patrons for the support of this tour
over this period. |
Rated No.1 by The Age newspaper in their Simply the Best feature on after-dark activities (August 1998). The Tuesday and Friday tours covered different parts of the city and thus different stories of murders and mayhem. Venture along Melbourne's alleys and laneways to places where famous murders, crimes and unsolved mysteries occurred. These include: - the Brownout Strangler
- the limbs in the sugar bag
- the theft of the mace
- shootings at the Opera House
- the activities of the gangster Squizzy Taylor
- the hanging of Ned Kelly
- the Windsor murderer (who murdered and buried 6 people - was he Jack the Ripper come to Melbourne?)
- the police strike
- the Pyjama Girl Murder
- the Brunswick Baby Murders
- the Great Bookie Robbery
- murder at The Trades Hall
- The Head in the Bottle
- The Gun Alley Atrocity
- The St. Patrick's Day Executions
- The ghost of the Princess Theatre
- The illegal operations of Champagne Jimmy
- The notorious house of Madam Brussells
and more. Readers may be interested in 7 Mysteries of Victoria.

We have not stopped talking about them and have made it a point of telling all and sundry about them. A big thank you goes out to (the man in the white hat) who with out a doubt makes the tours the success that they are. Our Hats (white) off to you and keep up the good work."
Steve & Karen, 15 September 2003 | "Ricky and I (the two unfortunates from Queensland!) can not thank you enough for the wonderful Murder & Mystery Tour you gave us on June 4.
We have not stopped raving about it to anybody who will sit still for long enough to listen to us. Not only did it deliver all you promised on your web site it also gave us a great insight into the history of Melbourne.
You are a wonderful performer with the knack of knowing how to keep an audience's attention.
"Come my Pretties" will forever have a special memory of our holiday in Melbourne."
Kindest regards, Kim.... June 15, 2002

TOURISM NEWS
Qantas In Flight Magazine chooses
White Hat
Cemetery Tour as its featured Australian tour for May

There are many fine historical tours
throughout Australia including cemetery tours. From these, the
prestigious Qantas In Flight Magazine has chosen the White Hat Tour
of Melbourne Cemetery as its featured Australian tour for the May
2007 edition. This tour was also featured by ABC radio on 24 May and
will feature in a documentary series on Burke and Wills to be shown
on European television in 2008. The tour has been operating for many years and has won
praise from a wide range of sources. This is not a dry and stuffy
tour but in keeping with all White Hat offerings it is Informed,
Intelligent, Independent (and occasionally) Irreverent. You can find
details of the tour at White
Hat Tour of Melbourne Cemetery and view the article at
Qantas In Flight Magazine. |
