This community festival celebrates the flowering of the red ficifolia gum tree.

Friday 10th February 2012

  • FRIDAY FRENZY RED CARPET SALE - 9am - 5pm; Pick up some bargains from the selection of shops in Drouin.

  • DROUIN BOWLS CLUB COMPETITION - 10.30am - 4pm; Princes Way, Drouin; Mixed Fours bowls competition

  • RADIO 3BBR OPEN DAY - 10am - 5pm; Oak Street, Drouin

  • CWA EXHIBITION OF CREATIVE CRAFTS & ART - 10am - 4pm; Drouin Anglican Church Hall, Main Street Drouin; $4.00 per person; Come along and see a wide range of craft, art and home industries exhibited by the local Country Women’s Association. Lunch, morning and afternoon teas available.

  • FICIFOLIA POETRY NIGHT - Sponsored by Landmark School Supplies; Time: 7pm - 10pm; Old Butter Factory, Drouin; $12 per person (includes wine and cheese). Be entertained by local and guest poets. Expect the unexpected.Humorous items, serious moments.

  • JACKSON’S VIEW CHINESE YEAR OF THE DRAGON STREET PARADE - 12 noon; Main Street, Princes Way, Drouin; The traditional Chinese Dragon, Chinese Lion and Plum Blossom Dancers will arrive at this year’s Ficifolia Festival Street Parade.   • JACKSON’S VIEW PARTY IN THE PARK - Join the festivities of the Party in the Park located in Civic Park.The 2012 Party in the Park will be a truly festive event with food, market stalls and activities to engage and entertain adults and children of all ages. Entertainment Includes: Performances by the Bendigo Chinese Association Chinese Dragon, Lion and Plum Blossom dancers. Super Weirdo will entertain you with juggling, circus acts and comedy. Free rides for the kids on Thomas the Tank Engine.

  • DROUIN TASK PARTY - Civic Park, part of Party in the Park. Try your skills at an improvisational art event. Select a ‘task’ from the TASK pool and using the variety of props and art materials provided let your creative imagination run wild. Work in a group of people or tackle a ‘task’ on your own.

  • CWA EXHIBITION OF CREATIVE CRAFTS & ART - 10am - 4pm; Drouin Anglican Church Hall, Main Street Drouin: $4.00 per person

  • EVISON GRAIN FICIFOLIA IDOL COMPETITION - 7pm - 8.30pm; Civic Park Sound Shell; Competition finalists will sing their hearts out in the hope of winning the ultimate title of the 2012 Drouin Ficifolia Idol winner! Great entertainment for all who wish to come and support these great finalists.

  • MOVIE UNDER THE STARS - Approximately 8.30pm; Civic Park Sound Shell; Enjoy a movie outside in the fresh air under the stars. Bring along your blanket, chair, picnic & aeroguard and experience one of the funniest events in the Ficifolia Festival. Plenty of food will be available for purchase including hot food, popcorn & fairy floss. (In case of bad weather movie will turn into a Drive-In at the Drouin Secondary College.)

  • FICIFOLIA FIREWORKS - Spectacular Fireworks will go off with a bang after dark (approx 9pm) at Drouin Civic Park. The movie will have an intermission to watch this amazing display.

Sunday 13th February 2012

  • FICIFOLIA BIG WALK - 8.30am Registration. Walk starts at 9am; Begins at Sound Shell at Civic Park Drouin. Join us for a family fun walk or stroll around Drouin Springs up to Drouin East Park on the Two Towns Trail. Return walk is 8km or you may walk less. The walk introduces participants to the unique history and surroundings of this beautiful town of Drouin. BYO food & drinks. Dogs on leads permitted. Some water will be available.

  • FICIFOLIA FUN IN THE PARK - All Activities from 12 noon (after the Big Walk). Civic Park Drouin. After the Big Walk stay in Civic Park and enjoy the following family friendly fun activities and games. The Lions BBQ and other food and drink will be available.

  • DROUIN DRAGONS SOCCER CLUB DUNK A PLAYER - Test your soccer skills and aim for the target and dunk a player in the pool of water!

    • BMX & SKATEBOARD DEMONSTRATION - A group of local ‘stars’ will enthral you with their vigorous skills.

    • RED HORSE NATIVE AMERICAN DANCER - Civic Park Sound Shell. You will be taken back in time by Red Horse, a Native American Indian who is a descendant of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, from the Southwest of North America. Red Horse will amaze you with the energy, colour and spirituality of dance and song, He will also captivate and amuse you with stories handed down from generations for the young and old alike.

    • BELLY DANCING, ZUMBA AND CHEERLEADING DEMONSTRATIONS & CLASSES - Come along and give belly dancing a go! Shake your stuff and learn some Zumba. Learn some cheer tricks from the Jada. Cheer cheerleaders. Let your hair down and have some fun in the sun.

  • ARTISTS’ OPEN STUDIOS - 10am - 5pm; Various Artists Studios Across Drouin and District; $5; A day to meet with artists, to browse, buy and learn more about the creative process. This is a self guided tour and you may attend as many studios as you like. (under 18 free). Pay at the first studio you visit. Download a map from www.ficifoliafestival.org.au

  • CROQUET SOCIAL DAY

  • - 9:30am - 3pm; Oak St, Drouin. $10 per person. Come and join in the fun with the Croquet Social Day morning & afternoon tea is provided. BYO lunch.

  • ROTARY CLUB OF DROUIN PRESENTS DROUIN IN THE 1940s - Friday 10:30am - 8:30pm; Saturday 10:30am - 8:30pm; Sunday 10:30am - 4:30pm; Drouin Primary School Multipurpose Room; $2; Images of Drouin people living and working throughout the war years, 1944-45. ‘Read the Pages’ on show and learn how the local newspaper recorded those years, during and after World War 2.

Plant Fair at Cruden Farm

Presented by the wonderful Australia's Open Garden Scheme. This day is gardener's heaven - possibly Australia's most famous garden and the opportunity to buy a wide selection of rare and unusual plants. Over this one special weekend, we're once again bringing together around 40 exhibitors from Victoria and interstate. You can talk to the expert growers of the most interesting and unusual plants, and find something out of the ordinary. With everything from bulbs to trees, natives to exotics, plus garden art, tools, guest speakers and demonstrations - it's an enticing destination for garden-lovers.

This year's Fair is at Cruden Farm, the lifetime achievement of national treasure Dame Elisabeth Murdoch. Dame Elisabeth designed and planted the renowned herbaceous borders, picking garden, shrub walks, tree-shaded lawns and one of Australia's most famous avenues, all contributing to a place of rare beauty. You can leave your purchases in our plant creche while you take a leisurely stroll around the garden. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

  • Please note that there is NO access to Cruden Farm for buses of over 25 seats unless they have pre-booked and pre-paid.

  • The public do not need to pre-book.
  • Parking, including disabled parking, is in paddocks adjoining the garden. Most areas of the garden are accessible for wheelchairs and walking frames.
  • Public Transport Access: Train to Frankston Station & then Bus (routes 789, 790 or 791) to Veronica Street.
  • Please note that OGA do not organise buses for the public to travel this event.

Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar
