These markets are listed as operating every Friday but this may only be in specified months and may not include public holidays, so read carefully to note the months in which each one is operating

Ballarat Antique Market
This large antique market with a wide range of items is located on two floors of an old school building and also contains a museum with a small entry charge.It is morein the nature of a very large antique store and does not appear to have the space to cater for casual stallholders. When White Hat last visited (in April 2008) there was also a specialist coins area.

Brunswick Market
A general indoor market with long term stall and shop holders with butchers, a fishmonger, poultry, delis, dry goods, fruit and vegetables and some variety and clothing stores. 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturdays (Frid open till 7pm). On Sundays only the fruit and veg section is open (enter from rear) form 7am to 6pm.

Caribbean Gardens Market
A large market picnic area and a big range of new and second hand goods. On Wednesdays entry is free and there is access to and general market, food stalls and playground. On Sundays there is an entry fee and as well as the market there is a children's train and boat rides, rock climbing. Caribbean Gardens Market is close to the Eastlink freeway and is now oppen Fridays as well as Wednesdays and Sundays. It is closed Christmas Day.

CERES Organic Food & Craft Market
CERES Organic Market and Shop recently celebrated their 10th birthday. The market sells fresh organic fruit and veg with an emphais on locally grown produce. The CERES Craft Market sells a mixture of hand crafted objects and second hand bargains in a social and friendly environment." The

Chapel Street Bazaar
A veritable Alladin's Cave of collectables, memorabilia and antiques. With over 80 independent dealers buying and selling, White Hat believes this is the largest bazaar of its type in Melbourne.

Daylesford Mill Markets
A large indoor market with an emphasis on antiques, retro fashion and collecatables. New stallholders are welcome. White Hat recommends that the serious browser for retro and memorabilia sets aside plenty of time because there is a seriously large amount of goods on display.

Drysdale Community Craft Shop Inc
The Drysdale Community Craft Shop has a range of unique uandcrafted uoods made by their members, Specialised baby bear, band bmbroidery, bnique jewellery, folk art, fand made cards, wedding charms, Australiana, paintings, patchwork & quilting. They also have a Lay-by and Order Service.

A large indoor market with a large range of produce and general goods.

Fountain Gate Farmers' Market
Fountain Gate is a large conventional shopping mall and they have teamed with In Season Markets to present produce from local growers and makers on a regular basis. White Hat has not yet had a chance to check it out and will tell you more once we have done so.

Geelong Mill Markets
Until recently, this location hosted a large and popular market. That market has relocated to Newcomb (see below). The remaining Geelong Mills Matket now has a large array of retro advertising signs, furniture, and larger and quirky mechanical and industrial equipment. White Hat can recommend this market as a good source for those looking to do a quirky fitout as well as to theatre companies and film-makers looking for genuine period props. It now functions more as a warehouse so give a ring before making a special trip.

Geelong Night Market
Based on the successful Night Market at Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, the Geelong Night Market features stalls with everything from a well-being area to eclectic wares and artisans to live entertainment. Street food showcases cuisines from around the world and there are activities for families to enjoy. White Hat can recommend this market as an atmospheric contribution to the relaxed atmosphere of Geelong over the summer holiday period.

in.cube8r gallery is a shop/gallery which runs like a long term market. It is open to anyone who makes things by hand and supports all things craft, art and hand-made in Melbourne. The gallery is divided up into glass cubicles, shelves, racks and partitions which artists can lease for a small weekly cost over a three month period. There is no commission on items sold. When Whitehat visited in June2008 we discovered a treasure trove of new upcoming artisans as well as designers like Julie Ughetti, with an international reputation. The work ranges from the quirky to sophisticated and given the diversity of art work on display you appear to be guaranteed to find eclectic original pieces.

Lost & Found Market
Lost & Found is an indoor market based in a shop just off Smith Street Collingwood. It features vintage furniture, lighting, art, posters, clothes, books, records and anything collectable. Permenant and casual stalls available.

Mill Markets Newcomb
A large indoor market with permenant and casual stallholders selling antiques,collectables, vintage clothing, homewares, memmorabilia and retro fashions. White Hat suggests that if you enjoy the Chapel Street Bazaar in Melbourne you will find a similar range of items at the Newcomb Mill Market but with more space to move.

Monash Campus Market
The Campus Market is open to University Staff, Students and the general public. There is lots of variety including plants,fresh flowers, books, clothes, CD's, jewellery, sunglasses, winter and summer accessories, hand bags, lingerie. Some vacancies exist for interested stallholders. Enquiries welcome.

Oakleigh Market
An indoor food market with a small number of permenant shops including butcher, deli & greengrocer. Trading days are Wednesday 7am to 4pm; Thursday 7am to 6pm; Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday 7am to 1.30pm

Pombo Mart
A very large building (originally a butter factory) with a large range of antiques, collectables, old wares and plenty of surprises. White Hat recommends that if you are travelling the Princes Highway between Geelong and Warrnambool that you take a break at the Pombo Mart. There is a cafe and one of  the proprietors is Peter Brocklehurst "The singing cobbler" continues to ply his trade repairing watches and shoes, cutting keys and engraving. Preston Market
Preston market is a large market selling fresh produce, meat, poultry and fish as well as a wide range of general goods. White Hat particular recommends Preston Market if you are shopping for a family on a tight budget. It is located next to the railway station and trams, and there are several supermarkets in the complex if you need to top up on anything not sold in the market. More information on Preston Market.

Sisters' Market
Sisters’ Market is a market founded by two sisters. They love finding diverse items that both inspire and excite. And let’s face it…they love to shop! The market features an array of stalls filled with artwork, clothing, accessories, food, body products, home wares and other quality goods. As White Hat predicted in our newsletter after we had attended their very first market "we expect this market to be around for a number of years to come and to build a build a strong community following".

The Supper Market at the Abbotsford Convent and it’s only 4km from the city. There is a range of food on the food hawker stalls, and shoppers have numbers of products on offer, while people looking for entertainment will find circus performers roaming the grounds, music lovers will enjoy acoustic music played by local musicians. White Hat suggests that those who want to be outdoors on a summery Friday night should consider the Supper Market. Bring your picnic rug and enjoy sitting on the garden lawns while eating fresh food served from the hawker food stalls.

A market operated in the same style as the mills markets in Newtown and Daylesford. Stalls are available on a monthly lease and you will find all manner of clothing, jewellery, antiques, collectables and bric-a-brac. The market is located in the factory and gardens created by Fletcher Jones.
