The White Hat Guide to The Kimberley
This area includes Kununurra, the Gibb River the Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle and the Mitcell Plateau Some of the rock art to be found in the Kimberley includes the so-called Bradshaw Rock Art which is at least 20,000 years old. Grahame Walsh, a long time student of the Bradshaw Rock Art, has disturbed mainstream anthropologists with his controversial theories relating to the origins of this art. There is currently a wonderful multimedia presentation on the art and culture of the Kimberley aboriginal people at ACMI in Melbourne. Fred William's stunning Pilbara Series of paintings is currently hanging in the Ian Potter Centre in Melbourne. They were donated by Rio Tinto Limited to the National Gallery of Victoria as a Federation Gift to the people of Australia in August 2001. Tours & activities in the Kimberley Related links:Events
