Love and devotion: from Persia and beyond
|
|
Celebrate the beauty of Persian manuscripts and the stories of human and
divine love that they tell in the Love and devotion exhibition. This exhibition
features nearly 70 rare 13th- to 18th-century Persian, Mughal Indian and Ottoman
Turkish illustrated manuscripts and miniatures from the Bodleian Libraries of
the University of Oxford. Early European manuscripts from the Bodleian Libraries
are also on display, including a Roman de la rose and works by Chaucer
and Dante. Love and devotion will also feature rare editions of European
literature, travel books and maps from our collections. This is the first major
exhibition of Persian manuscripts to be held in Australia. |

Top Designs
|
|
Top Designs showcases student works produced for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Media, Design and Technology, Food and Technology, Systems Engineering, Visual Communication and Design and Victorian Education and Training (VET) Interactive Digital Media. All works are accompanied by folios and design plans that document the students’ development of ideas, production stages, client feedback and evaluation of results. The strength of this unique exhibition is the opportunity to view developmental folios and design plans alongside the finished work – from furniture to fashion and film to food menu plans. Explore the exhibits, useful design links, education programs, and teacher and student resources, and discover the work of Victoria’s best young designers. |

TOURISM NEWS
Qantas In Flight Magazine chooses
White Hat
Cemetery Tour as its featured Australian tour for May

There are many fine historical tours
throughout Australia including cemetery tours. From these, the
prestigious Qantas In Flight Magazine has chosen the White Hat Tour
of Melbourne Cemetery as its featured Australian tour for the May
2007 edition. This tour was also featured by ABC radio on 24 May and
will feature in a documentary series on Burke and Wills to be shown
on European television in 2008. The tour has been operating for many years and has won
praise from a wide range of sources. This is not a dry and stuffy
tour but in keeping with all White Hat offerings it is Informed,
Intelligent, Independent (and occasionally) Irreverent. You can find
details of the tour at White
Hat Tour of Melbourne Cemetery and view the article at
Qantas In Flight Magazine. |
