The White Hat Guide to St Kilda
This flight provides an opportunity to view St Kilda from the air. |
Holiday accommodation in St Kilda Some well known features of St Kilda include the St Kilda Pier (see above), Luna Park, Palais Theatre, National Theatre and St Kilda (Blessigton Street) Gardens. Over time St Kilda has been the home to many artists including Albert Tucker, Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd and Mirka Mora.
Hotel Esplanade ("The Espy")The Espy is a legend in Melbourne. Local bands in the front bar, motorbikes out the front, St Kilda beach over the road, unknown substances on the floor. Not the place to wear your best clothes. Few patrons today are aware of its illustrative past, or of one of its famous residents, Alfred Felton, who filled his apartment there with precious works of art in the 1890s. Veg Out St Kilda Farmers' Market
|
|
Fresh & organic produce at Veg Out Community Garden. White Hat recommends a visit to this market if you are interested to see what can be achieved when a suburban bowling green is converted into a community vegetable garden. We should also mention that although the Veg Out title implies vegetarians only, omnivores are catered for. White Hat can recommend this as one of Melbourne's better farmers' markets, with a good atmosphere and a wide range. There is a special twilight market from 4 to 8pm on Wednesday 22 December. |

TOURISM NEWS
Qantas In Flight Magazine chooses
White Hat
Cemetery Tour as its featured Australian tour for May

There are many fine historical tours
throughout Australia including cemetery tours. From these, the
prestigious Qantas In Flight Magazine has chosen the White Hat Tour
of Melbourne Cemetery as its featured Australian tour for the May
2007 edition. This tour was also featured by ABC radio on 24 May and
will feature in a documentary series on Burke and Wills to be shown
on European television in 2008. The tour has been operating for many years and has won
praise from a wide range of sources. This is not a dry and stuffy
tour but in keeping with all White Hat offerings it is Informed,
Intelligent, Independent (and occasionally) Irreverent. You can find
details of the tour at White
Hat Tour of Melbourne Cemetery and view the article at
Qantas In Flight Magazine. |
