David Rovics & Alistair Hulett
|
|
David Rovics is based in Portland, Oregon, and has been called the musical voice of the progressive movement in the US. Since the mid-90's he has spent most of his time on the road, playing hundreds of shows every year throughout the world. He has shared the stage with musicians like Billy Bragg and the Indigo Girls. More importantly, he's really good. He will make you laugh, he will make you cry, and he will make the revolution irresistible. Alistair Hulett was born in Glasgow and moved to Australia at the age of eighteen where his band Roaring Jack plyed its punk/rockabilly take on Celtic folk, from the mid '80s until the early '90s. They played with acts like Billy Bragg and The Pogues. He eventually returned to the UK and most recently he joined with several Yorkshire based musicians to form a semi-electric band called The Malkies. (Doors open 8.30) Tickets: $14+bf ($20 full or $17 concession at

TOURISM NEWS
Qantas In Flight Magazine chooses
White Hat
Cemetery Tour as its featured Australian tour for May

There are many fine historical tours
throughout Australia including cemetery tours. From these, the
prestigious Qantas In Flight Magazine has chosen the White Hat Tour
of Melbourne Cemetery as its featured Australian tour for the May
2007 edition. This tour was also featured by ABC radio on 24 May and
will feature in a documentary series on Burke and Wills to be shown
on European television in 2008. The tour has been operating for many years and has won
praise from a wide range of sources. This is not a dry and stuffy
tour but in keeping with all White Hat offerings it is Informed,
Intelligent, Independent (and occasionally) Irreverent. You can find
details of the tour at White
Hat Tour of Melbourne Cemetery and view the article at
Qantas In Flight Magazine. |
