Strictly, 'Possum' belongs as much to
South Australia and
New South Wales
as he does to Victoria. But
he was never particularly aware of borders or states. Although loosely based
around the Wentworth/Mildura
area, he seemed to think nothing of having a wander down to look at the
mouth of the Murray River (about 650 km away), or to wander up the Darling
River to Wilcania (another 600 km).
A Man Called Possum

He was a loner. He hid from his
pursuers in wild bush country. He was one of the greatest
survivors of the twentieth century. People along the Murray
River called him Possum, but who was he really? Max
Jones, country detective, was determined to find out - even if
it took him thirty years...
