The official interest rates have a significant effect on financial markets, home buyers, mortgage holders and self-funded retirees. The rates are usually announced by mid afternoon.

Home Harvest Exchange - food swap
Exchanging produce has been going on since the earliest days of European settlement and for most born before the 1960s  (and many after that) would have been a regular part of life. With changing lifestyles and serious vegetable gardens, chooks and other livestock disappearing from quarter acre blocks the practice has become less common. However White Hat has recently noticed a growing trend to revive the practice in a more formal manner and where better to do it than Heronswood with its wonderful program of preserving heritage varieties of fruit and vegetables. So locals are urged to bring their excess fresh home-grown produce and go home with someone else's. As the publicity says "Meet the neighbours, swap recipes, build community and healthy living; reduce food waste and food miles; and stretch the budget. Fruit, vegies, herbs, eggs, jams, and other produce. No money exchanged. Bring your produce and a smile. One bunch of parsley is enough." ..
