On Friday, Satuday and Sunday evenings Heffernan Lane in Chinatown is given over to a bustling
night market with a variety of Asian food stalls. This is just the place for an
after-work snack before heading off to a serious Friday night of partying. More

A general indoor market with long-term stall and shop holders with
butchers, a fishmonger, poultry, delis, dry goods, fruit and vegetables and
some variety and clothing stores. 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturdays (Fridays
open till 7pm). On Sundays only the fruit and veg section is open (enter
from rear) from 7am to 6pm.

The Heide Museum of Modern Art is a gallery, sculpture park and museum of
important art and artists from Melbourne and beyond. White Hat recommends that anyone interested in Australian art, particularly that of the Heidelberg School, should pay a visit to this important site.

The Ian Potter Museum of Art at Melbourne University is a short tram ride from
the city and a short walk from
Lygon Street Carlton. Entry is free but from time to time there are special
exhibitions in part of the gallery which may entail an entry charge. Exhibited
works are chosen from teh art clocction of the Unversity of Melbourne - the
largest university art collection in Australia.

Forest Glade Gardens is one of Australia's finest private gardens. It is
short trip from Melbourne and is open to the public from September to May. It
features large exotic trees, a
bonsai house, a woodland section, a
fern gully a blue bell patch and

garden, two aviaries, a laburnum arch, a
peony walk highlighted with
climbing roses, as well as numerous pergolas, ponds, fountains and statues. A
